DestiNation Imagination

The 2010 MCS DestiNation Imagination Team!
We have DestiNation Imagination at the Montessori Cooperative School!

DestiNation Imagination is a non-profit international program that teachers kids critical and creative problem solving skills. It is open to children four years old through college and the programs are run by volunteers.

Based on the Theory of Multiple Intelligences, it covers everything from drama, engineering and science to history, nature, music, and much more. Through DestiNation Imagination, children learn not only to find creative solutions to a challenge, but also about team work, time management, material manipulation, research and presentation skills the participants will use throughout their lives.

Teams of up to seven participants work on a long term challenge throughout the school year and present their solution at a statewide tournament in the Spring. The focus is not as much on the product of their work as on the process, and the tournament is a showcase and celebration of the children’s dedication and teamwork.

Teams that “place” in the tournament will advance to the International Level, or “Global Finals.” This will take place at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Teams that are invited to the “Global Finals” will have the opportunity to interact with creative kids from all over the world.
